Why the Blackhawk

The black hawk represents perspective and the ability to see beyond the immediate horizon. Black hawks protect, nurture, and guide their young toward independence when they are ready to leave the nest.

At Blackhawk Family Assessment Center, we take a similar approach: looking beyond diagnoses and challenges to understand each person’s unique strengths, needs, and potential. Our goal is to help individuals and families better understand where they are today, see what lies ahead, and move forward with the self-understanding, knowledge, and tools they need to thrive.

More Than Our Profession, This Is Personal

Before we were psychologists and assessment professionals, we were moms, daughters, sisters, and wives. We know that family is at the center of so much of what matters in life. We understand the worry that comes with wanting the best for someone you love, the desire to find answers, and the hope of seeing every family member reach their potential.

That perspective shapes how we approach assessment. We don't get stuck on a diagnosis or define someone by the challenges they're facing. We look beyond the problem to understand the whole person: their strengths, their struggles, what makes them unique, and what might help them thrive.

We believe assessment should do more than identify what is difficult. It should help put the pieces together, offering a clearer picture of who someone is and a roadmap for where they have the potential to go. Our goal is to provide answers, practical solutions, and a deeper understanding that families can carry forward into everyday life.

This is personal. From our family to yours.
