Stefanie Magalong is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist, with 10 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families in various settings such as residential treatment programs, Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient programs, inpatient hospital, and private practice.
She’s worked with adolescents affected by trauma, active duty military and veterans struggling with PTSD and combat related trauma, and taught parenting skills groups to support those raising adolescents. Stefanie has also facilitated DBT groups for teens and parents which taught the core skills of DBT including mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Additionally, Stefanie has worked with adults, adolescents, and latency aged children struggling with depression, anxiety, parent-child conflict, emotional dysregulation, and has helped those to develop adequate social skills.
Stefanie completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and earned her master’s from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. While working towards her master’s, Stefanie assisted in a research study which focused on providing an introduction to qualitative research methods as they relate to the field of counseling, with a special emphasis on multicultural counselor training. She and the research team then presented the findings at the Winter Roundtable Conference at Columbia University. Her education and experience has made her passionate about working with clients to relieve unwanted symptoms, improve one’s ability to manage life stressors, and work to improve her client’s overall quality of life.
Outside of work, Stefanie’s time is spent raising her daughter. She also enjoys yoga and wellness, and spending time with friends and family. Stefanie is a native of Wisconsin and enjoys traveling and exploring new areas of California.
